Provide option to make list view (even) more compact, to help with high-volume feeds.
Big feeds like Zero Hedge or Hacker News pump out hundreds of posts per day -- RSS readers with an ultracompact list view make scanning these much easier. If The Old Reader had an ultracompact option, that'd be immensely helpful (less scrolling).

You can view the feed as a list of headlines, or install one of the existing complementary themes.
