Extend keyboard shortcuts
I'd love to be able to exclusively use keyboard shortcuts rather than ever touch the mouse. To that end:
- add a '?' shortcut that gives an overlay describing available shortcuts
- add a shortcut to mark a post unread
Most of requested shortcuts have been implemented, check out the announcement at http://blog.theoldreader.com/
If you think that more keyboard shortcuts should be added, please create separate feature requests for each additional shortcut. This will allow others to vote and will help us prioritize.
UPD: We also have fixed shortcuts for international layouts and added ‘x’ key to toggle posts in list view.

Also, the j and k shortcuts need to mark the items as read. They only do that if "Scrolling through posts mark them as read" is checked.

+1 for "r" to refresh.

@Dan Jones hit it right on the head. Right now, it is REALLY hard for me to navigate The Old Reader. I don't want to open every item in my feed as I mark things as read, so I must resort to using the mouse to individually click on articles I do not wish to read.
With 200+ votes, this is becoming an increasingly requested feature, yet there is no indication from the TOR developers whether they plan to do this.
Any word on when or if better keyboard navigation will be added? Please?

Yeah, the Google Reader shortcuts are well known to us, and having some of them behave differently (I'm looking at you n, p and o) makes adoption more difficult.

I agree with everyone else here. However, what I miss the most are shift + p/n/o for navigating between feeds without the mouse.

I'd love to see all of the Google Reader shortcuts implemented. Especially, I use : v, n, p, shift+n, shift+p, shift+o, shift+a, r.
Keep up the good work ! -

I don't see why you don't just implement all of the google reader shortcuts. But agree that "r" and shift "a" are especially big ones for me

my favorite shortcuts not implemented include:
r to reload
spacebar to jump progress between feeds -

"r" for refresh is definitely the one I miss most. Possibly the only one I miss currently :)

I would like "r" for refresh and something like "g+h" for go to homepage

Pressing space to jump to the next feed after you finish reading all the articles in one.
This is definitely required.

Shift-A for "mark all as read" please!

Hmm...my feedback was declined, with a request to move it in here, but it's not really the same thing. I'd like keyboard /focus/ to jump to the news feed when keyboard /shortcuts/ will affect the news feed. So if 'n', 'p', 'j','k' will move things around, the arrow keys will work for small scrolling as well. It's just to save a mouse click, but it really seems like what the user's likely to want, even if the user isn't me. I click on "All items", scroll with shortcuts, and then if a entry is too long to see, I want to scroll it just a little without using the mouse. The arrow keys scroll the left frame instead.

Jim, you should have received an email saying that your request was a duplicate of this one.

Well, since my feature request got deleted without even an explanation, I'll add my vote to this one, instead. The 'r' key to refresh feeds is the one I'm missing most right now.

Navigating feeds/items without opening them, expanding/collapsing and marking as (un)read would be realy welcome.

Definitely need most of the keyboard shortcuts from Google reader, but 'r' is the biggest one missing right now..

Adding my voice to the growing chorus. I would love to see all of the current shortcuts from the current Google Reader ported over here. In my current workflow, I use the 'n', 'p', and 'm' shortcuts *hundreds* of times per day. Some of my feeds have high signal-to-noise ratios, so I want to be able to go through and mark large numbers of items as read without opening every single one.

Add a shortcut to pocket a post, would be great while navigating (highlighting) the posts without actually displaying their content.
Also, customizable shortcuts.
