Star entries
Ability to star entries for later reading + sharing (pocket integration is nice but probably no enough i you read your article on pocket then want to share it, wading back through old entries can be painful).
Hooray!

I would really like this feature very soon.

Also for me the most important missing feature compared to the Google Reader. Like most i think, i tend to check my reader during work hours every now & then, but since it automatically marks the posts you scrolled through as read, there is no real way to keep posts for reading later. I mis-use the 'Like' feature for that now, but a proper star function would be much easier

#1 Feature I miss. I, too, wish I could give this all of my votes!

I use Feedler Pro, and since Google Reader is gone, I have been looking for a replacement. I REALLY like TOR, but the ability to "star" is very important to me. The other alternative I have found which supports Feedler (as that is very important to me), has this ability. However, they charge $12/yr. I'd MUCH rather use TOR (and not only because its free, either, but because I overall genuinely prefer it). Yet without the ability to star items, I will likely just "bite the bullet" and use the other service, and pay the $12 (for each account, as I have multiple!) PLEASE add this feature, and AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I may have only found your company because Google killed off their Reader, but I would greatly prefer to stick with your service, now that I have found you. PLEASE add this feature!

Wish I could give this all my votes. This is by far the feature I miss the most.

+1 on bringing "starred" function to The Old Reader. Very important part of my old Google reader usage

Or add the ability to access articles pocketed directly on old reader..

I tried Pocket integration, but it is overkill, and I don't want to use 2 applications just to read stuff on the the web. Just add a "star" option, like in Google Reader (or bring it back, if it existed in a previous version).
Please take note that I would be ready to *pay* for such a feature !

Another vote for starred items - and the ability to import them. Essential the experience of using Google Reader and Reeder...

I like The Old Reader, but I really miss stars (and the ability to import starred articles from GR).
It's unlikely I'll ever use Pocket....

This is like stars on gmail or greader itself. It's necessary!

I second this for two reasons:
1- I do not want to have yet another account on the net just for the sake of it2- having stars on the item line (as it is on gReader) saves me a lot of time. I sometimes have hundreds of items to skim through, and it's not said that I will actually "like" them once I read them. If I could "star on the go" the items I want to read later it would be perfect.
Still, reason number 1 is my main point.

For me Stars have always been like private Likes. I don't want to share everything that I star, thus I can't agree with using Likes for the same purpose. I think that both features are distinct and important.

Liked articles can serve a similar purpose to Starred, in that they are fast bookmarks for reading later inside The Old Reader, but I would like to see an export feature for Liked, so I added this suggestion: http://theoldreader.uservoice.com/forums/187017-feature-requests/suggestions/3997750-export-liked

I love the idea of "The Old Reader", but without stars, it is missing a core piece of how it feels to use the old Google Reader, or even the current Google Reader.
I tried pointing The Old Reader to my Pocket RSS feed, but it does not update automatically, since The Old Reader doesn't know that it is the very feed that its send to Pocket action affects, and even when I updated that feed, all the new items added via the Old Reader appear with "Untitled" instead of the title that appears in Pocket.

I used the star feature to mark entries that I want to come back on, either to read later when I have more time (in case the article is rather long), keep it tagged since it is worth remembering, because I want to tell someone else about it, react to it, or whatever.
Having that integrated inside the reader is a quick and easy solution that works on all devices I use; using a separate app/web site only adds additional burden. -

I too would much prefer the ability to star an item rather than Pocket integration. Could the star feature not be brought back given that you had it in the past? The ability to star an item was one of the attractions of Google reader on the Windows and Android versions.

For the reasons stated above (easy managing of articles I want to read after scrolling down the whole list) I'd also prefer a star-feature. Pocket is nice to have to read articles on the go but not for managing what you actually want to read (in my opinion). Working at a university, I'm using this great reader to catch up with the latest articles in scientific journals every day, so reading while scrolling is just not working. For now, I'm opening every potentially interesting article and bookmark it. Of course, this is working, but it's not as convenient as a star function.
