Lazy load images in collapsed items
Currently when in list view and all items are collapsed, the post content and images are still loaded inside a hidden div - this means the browser is still downloading all those images though, chewing up bandwidth.
I have a few RSS feeds that are just all embedded GIF files, and loading them all inside the hidden divs almost froze my browser (plust ook 20mb+ bandwidth)
I propose you just lazy load the content in when a collapsed item is expanded.
This has been done, please see the announcement at http://blog.theoldreader.com/

Andre, properly unloading elements is a separate feature: http://theoldreader.uservoice.com/forums/187017-feature-requests/suggestions/3435290-unload-posts-that-have-been-scrolled-out
Человѣкъ, please do not use Uservoce for the bug reports. We've got community forums for that.

Hi guys! Can't thank you enough for this one! One thing though, if a post with a YouTube video is open and playing the video, when you open another post without closing the first one, the video keeps on playing - even though the first post is automatically closed (and when you open it to stop the video, it stops playing automatically).
Just wanted to make you aware of this. Thanks for the great job you're doing - it is much appreciated.

This is not a huge problem for me on my desktop computers, but important for reading on the iPad - we have a first generation one and its very limited memory means it's easy to overload and crash the browser this way. For that reason I use Google Reader in list view opening only one thing at a time. If that's not having the desired effect (reducing memory use) because of the way Old Reader is loading things, that will make it very hard for me to use the site that way.

Deleting the element when the post is collapsed would be nice too. In some feeds with many youtube videos it starts using a lot of memory after I've watched a few videos. Also closing a post with a playing video then having to re-open it to stop the video is annoying.

...plus, when you play a YouTube video embedded in a post, it keeps playing after you've closed the tab. Mildly annoying - hopefully an easy fix.
