Provide a 'cut-down' mobile interface for smart phones / tablets
Google Reader provides a 'touch' [ https://www.google.com/reader/i/ ] and 'minimal' [ https://www.google.com/reader/m/ ] interface for smart phones / tablets.
It might be nice if an equivalent minimal interface for OldReader is also available to make browsing and reading feeds on such devices (with limited screen space) easier.

Please consider:
1) Make subscriptions area hideable
2) Allow font size preference (smaller)
3) Move item title before source name
4) Provide snippets of item bodies in listing
5) Add pref to "show {20,50,100} at a time"
6) Add pref to show a 'mark all before this read' buttonThe last item is the one feature G never added that Reader seems to have needed desperately. It provides better control than mark-read-as-you-scroll.
I'd pay $50/yr for a mobile site like this.

My only complaint is that I have to scroll over the list of all my subscriptions each time I want to read "all items" on my phone.
If this list could be collapsed on devices with a small screen, it'd be perfect.

I think the responsive design that it currently has is fantastic, and I suggest you change nothing as far as mobile design goes. It doesn't need a minimalist mobile interface. It already has a great mobile interface.

A single responsive design is much more sensible than an app based approach - easier to support for you and no requirement to tie into some crazy store infrastructure with approval.
The defunct Google Reader works very well in this regard. I want a single RSS reader for my phone and PC.
By the way, one of the reasons I am here from Google Reader is that your competitors "apps" don't support older Android phones, so I can't install their apps even if I wanted to. Your minimal version is the LEAST BAD of the options so far.
I am rooting for you, your mobile approach is going to help you a lot in the RSS reader wars in the next several months.

Yes please! I have always been using https://www.google.com/reader/i/ and have not found any good alternative for this yet. I have never really used the apps, and I have also switched to a Windows Phone now (Nokia Lumia 920), and they are always the last in line for getting the apps.
So a nice, clean and simple mobile view thank you.
(OT) Btw. theoldreader.com does not currently switch to mobile view on my WP!.

Much better idea than to waste ressources to develope an app for every single device.

I'm using Opera Mini 7.1.32052 on my (very?) old mobile phone.
Support for it would be appreciated! The https://www.google.com/reader/m/view/ layout would be perfect! :)

Even if you could just allow the bit with the "Home", "All Items", etc. links to be collapsed, it'd make the mobile experience much better.

I agree, I have a Windows Phone device and like others, I am sick to death of companies not porting apps over. I don't blame The Old Reader as they are a small team but it would be nice to have a great mobile site (like the Touch Google Reader) so I could use it in the morning on my phone before school.

I currently use gReader on my desktop, iPhone, and iPad. An app would be useless if you make a mobile interface that works as well as gReader does.

I agree completely. Native apps are nice, but nothing is better than a good web app, because it is cross-platform. I use Windows Phone device, and native app makers generally ignore Windows Phone in favour of Android and iOS. So if the mobile web app is good, I don't care. Currently, it isn't user-friendly at all.
