If I visit http://theoldreader.com/, the page is served over plain HTTP. The pop-up login form is then also submitted over HTTP, which is insecure.
Contrast that with http://feedbin.me/, which redirects me to HTTPS - there's no way I can accidentally submit my username/password in plaintext.
Supporting HTTPS isn't very useful if users have to opt in to using it.
