Password-protected feeds
I would love to be able to follow the full RSS feeds for password-protected sites (e.g., Livejournal, where each individual users' feed can contain a mix of open and password-protected entries).

You can now use basic authentication to access RSS feeds using the url format: http(s)://username:password@url.com

I don't quite follow the format you cited, can you provide an actual example for a real site with a fictitious user name and password?
