  2. "Mark all from source as read" Near feed title on items when browsing All items or Unread folder

    When I'm scrolling unread items in the All items section or in a folder of feeds I'd like the option to mark all from a certain source as read aside from the "Mark all as read" button which marks all feeds in the folder as read... This would save time by not needing to expand the folder, search the list, open the individual feed, mark all as read, then go back to the overall folder view...

  3. Subscribe to sites that don't have feeds (page2rss/feed43)

    Google Reader added this function briefly, and then removed it.

    I'd be fine with you just using third-party sites like page2rss or feed43. All I'm asking is that if we paste a URL into the Subscribe box, and if you can't find a feed for that page, instead of just turning the box red (which is not a very good form of feedback, by the way), it will offer to subscribe to changes of that page via one of these sites instead, with everything filled in as automatically as possible.

  4. visual distinction between post titles and content in list view

    In list (collapsed) view, when you open a post, its title blends in with the post body. This makes it a poor clicking target, and also makes it harder to distinguish where the post body ends and title of another post begins.

  6. Provide a 'cut-down' mobile interface for smart phones / tablets

    Google Reader provides a 'touch' [ https://www.google.com/reader/i/ ] and 'minimal' [ https://www.google.com/reader/m/ ] interface for smart phones / tablets.

    It might be nice if an equivalent minimal interface for OldReader is also available to make browsing and reading feeds on such devices (with limited screen space) easier.

  7. Import starred.json from Google Reader's Takeout

    Within the zip file that Google's Takeout provides there is a starred.json file available. i think lifehacker mentioned a way of turning them into HTML to make them bookmarks but his does not "gel with current workflows". I have no idea if in implementing googles reader api this comes as part of it - that is if you do implement their api. Maybe feedburner will be terminated after reader is shutdown so here is two website with a list of alternatives:

  8. Interface improvements

    There are couple of thing that needs to be improved in the interface of The Old Reader.

    1. Side menu needs to be limited in size when the browser window is stretched. On resolution of 1920x1080 the subscriptions menu takes up to 20% of the screen, The longest feed title I have is 230pixels wide which means almost half of the menu stays empty.

    2. The Subscription folders needs to be better distinguished from the feeds. All of the feeds are aligned right under the folder names. The folders names are grey and have smaller characters than the feeds. I would suggest…

  9. Add option to highlight read/unread items differently

    As a refugee from Google Reader, a nice feature I see missing is having the whole row for an item highlighted according to read status.
    White for unread, yellow for currently selected, grey for read items.

    You have the little green indicator next to each line, but whole line highlighting will make it easier to use at a glance.

  10. Improved documentation to help guide the tons of new users that must have flocked here after the demise of Google Reader was announced.

    The Knowledge Base is pretty short on answers, even for a product that is fairly intuitive. Please, someone should be posting Q&As on the Web site every day in this period of high attention, and the signed-in view should have a "Help" button somewhere.

  12. Let me download all my data

    Not just the OPML file, but all data about what I read/shared/liked/etc. I want an escape hatch a la Google Takeout before I trust another web service with my data!

  13. view feed from Chrome extension

    with google reader, you can click the extension icon and view the feed w/o having to open the program in an internet window. can mark items as read and refresh feed, even sort by tag....almost like a shortcut.

  14. Allow to filter the feeds.

    I would like to filter the feeds based on their title and/or content.

    For example, in my "news" category, I could filter out all articles containing "football". Or for a specific feed, I could filter out the tag [apple] in the title. Those articles would be directly hidden, or marked as read.

    There’s now a subscription management page that allows you to unsubscribe from/move your subscriptions. You can get there by clicking on “Subscriptions” in the user name dropdown in the upper right.

  16. "Only my items"

    Basically, it should be "All items" without "Following".

  17. Open post page in frame

    Open the target article in frame within Ye Olde Reader or at least add the button that will directly take me to the article (that shows on the right of each entry in Google Reader).

    Basically, a lot of the sites I follow doesn't include the whole article in the feed, with a link to continue reading. So please add the button to take me directly to the article as Google Reader has done or load the feed target directly in a frame (loading it after clicking on it's entry).

  18. Take DPI into consideration before collapsing content below sidebar

    On a Nexus 7 the content is shown beneath the list of feeds when held in portrait mode despite a horizontal resolution of 800px.

    On a desktop with a regular monitor, no collapsing occurs when resizing the browser window to 800px wide.

    I am assuming this is due to chrome reporting a lower horizontal resolution to your css media queries due to the higher display density. I have observed that your stylesheets already take dpi into account for your logo, so I am merely suggesting that you do the same for your layout.

  19. The Old Reader's public feed items should have the <source> attribute

    The public feeds (.rss) should have the <source> attribute (well, for better attributing, e.g. when using these links to post on Twitter, Facebook, whatever.

    Like this:

    <source tor:stream-id="feed/http://lifehacker.com/index.xml">
    <id>
    tag:theoldreader.com,2013:reader/feed/http://lifehacker.com/index.xml
    </id>
    <title type="html">Lifehacker</title>
    <link rel="alternate" href="http://lifehacker.com" type="text/html"/>
    </source>

    Thanks for your consideration :)

  20. keyboard navigation doesn't work as I'd expect

    j and k, rather than going to the post before or after the currently expanded post, go to the post before or after the post that is currently at the top of the page.

    When viewing posts in list form, I expect navigation to work in relation to the currently expanded post. As it is, if I scroll the page at all, j and k work in a suprising and not totally predictable way.
