Provide a different color theme option (dislike the green)
I really don't like the current green color theme. I'm sure some people like it, but it bugs me. Any chance of introducing another color theme?

Interface improvements
There are couple of thing that needs to be improved in the interface of The Old Reader.
Side menu needs to be limited in size when the browser window is stretched. On resolution of 1920x1080 the subscriptions menu takes up to 20% of the screen, The longest feed title I have is 230pixels wide which means almost half of the menu stays empty.
The Subscription folders needs to be better distinguished from the feeds. All of the feeds are aligned right under the folder names. The folders names are grey and have smaller characters than the feeds. I would suggest…

Allow to filter the feeds.
I would like to filter the feeds based on their title and/or content.
For example, in my "news" category, I could filter out all articles containing "football". Or for a specific feed, I could filter out the tag [apple] in the title. Those articles would be directly hidden, or marked as read.

Per-feed and per-folder display settings
Some of the settings (view unread vs. view all, feed display order, etc.) appear inconsistent in whether they apply to ALL feeds (i.e. they are global settings) or just the currently active feed. For example, there are certain blogs where I would like to have the older posts display first, so I can read it sequentially if I miss a post or two, but other blogs where I would like the NEWER posts to display first. Sort order appears to be a global setting, though, so I have to switch back and forth each time I change which blog I'm…

Let me download all my data
Not just the OPML file, but all data about what I read/shared/liked/etc. I want an escape hatch a la Google Takeout before I trust another web service with my data!

Add a way to like/star items in the list view
That way, I can quickly sort through the headings while clicking on potentially interesting items, then go to the Liked section to read them all in one place.

Share folders of feeds publicly: like Google Reader Bundles
Google Reader had the ability to share folders of feeds publicly (as "Bundles") so users could share unique content sources by topic area. This curation allows new users to quickly get plugged into a topic, and can help experts/social media managers to discriminate sources to interested parties.

Subscribe to sites that don't have feeds (page2rss/feed43)
Google Reader added this function briefly, and then removed it.
I'd be fine with you just using third-party sites like page2rss or feed43. All I'm asking is that if we paste a URL into the Subscribe box, and if you can't find a feed for that page, instead of just turning the box red (which is not a very good form of feedback, by the way), it will offer to subscribe to changes of that page via one of these sites instead, with everything filled in as automatically as possible.

Refresh all feeds
There should be a "Refresh all feeds" button.
197 votes“Refresh all feeds” button can only work in a reasonable amount of time for users that have a very small number of feeds (10-15 at most). An additional requirement will be for RSS feeds that are refreshed to serve their XML files very quickly.
Please keep in mind that voting for this feature, you automatically vote for imposing a very low limit of feed count per user.

Make font size user-adjustable
I have somewhat poor vision, and often bump font sizes up in Chrome using the CTRL+= shortcut. Unfortunately, on The Old Reader this makes the sidebars and top navbar unnecessarily huge (http://d.pr/i/JcoK). For some reason, this also causes the j,k keyboard shortcuts to function strangely (two or three keystrokes necessary to go to the next story).
Can we have a simple preference to set the font size?

Import all entries contained in a feed
Most of my feeds provide 100 articles at a time, but "the old reader" only imports 20 of them. This has actually prevented me from becoming a regular user of your service. Please import all items contained in a feed.

Rename feed from feed page
I know you can double click on the feed name in the sidebar, but with lots of subscriptions I don't want to have to go hunting for it, I'd rather just rename it inline on the feed page.

Variable sidebar width
Users should be able to resize sidebar using drag&drop.

Be able to set the starting page.
When I start the application, maybe I want it to always show first a certain feed, or maybe I want it to show a specific folder, or "All items".

Active article (for j/k keys) should be independent of scrolling
Let's say there are 10 articles on display in list view.
I click on 5 and read it.
I scroll up to view the headlines of all the articles.
I press 'j' to move to the next article (the 6th article).
The Old Reader goes to article 3, because I scrolled up.
Please make this like Google Reader, where 'next' means 'next'.

Change folder from the feed
Change what folder a feed is part of from the feed, no dragging/dropping required.
Since I have updated my settings to hide feeds/folders with no unread items I can't move a new feed to that folder until a new post shows up there or I change my settings. A dropdown with the available folders available from the feed would solve the problem.25 votes -
