  1. make the internet “a more thoughtful, engaging and self-aware environment.”

    I saw this line on a Zen Pencils comic. It was about Robert Ebert's blog, which I have not read yet. But it struck me as something that I pine for a lot.

    Is there anything in your technical prowess that you could do to bring "thoughtful, engaging and self-aware" content to your readers?

    Popular social networking sites have utterly failed at delivering this in my view. I don't know how it can be done better, but i see hope in the particular kind of people that support TOR ... people that see value in RSS feeds.

  2. test the old reader with firefox on android

    The currenrt behavior of buttons and links is extremely sluggish. It somtimes takes more than one second to get visible feedback. I can never be sure whether the "click" worked or not. Too much ajax I guess.
    I am using the most recent firefox. And yes, the mobile firefox is aterrible browser implementation with serious performance issues, but who wants privacy intruders like chrome?

  4. Support Microsoft Surface in your App for windows mobile

    The Old Reader web version doesn't display properly in chrome for this platform, the preview window clips the right margin on any story longer than a line.

  5. Fix feed

    I have 419 active YouTube subscriptions. Why I check YouTube daily for New vids some of the subscribers and videos are not even being shown in the feed. I got this account to show all YouTube vids because YouTube won't. And now I don't even know what's right

    A number of apps using RSVP to increase reading speed for screens are available, integrating one or more with the old reader would improve its functionality

  12. Add AI-powered ranking of articles

    Do you subscribe to too many feeds or too fast ones? Both? Me too. That's why I wrote a machine learning-based ranking service (https://github.com/piccolbo/rightload). But it needs to be integrated with a reader. It would also be more powerful the more people use it.

  13. add a scoll helper to the page end

    So that merely scrolling all the way to the bottom marks also the last mrssage as read, even if it consumes less than the screen jight.

  16. Multiple UI issues after latest update

    The reader has been resetting itself to Dark Mode periodically. It's a quick keystroke to change it back but it still seems like a weird issue. Happens anywhere from every couple of days to multiple times per day, no history clears or anything in between.

    The (?) button and the Support option under the user profile also seem to be broken. Both cause the page to hang, accepting no futher inputs.

  18. Some information is missing

    From RSS feeds of JACS journals some articles are missing.
    For example:
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/acs/jacsat
    from 20 articles on the cite mentioned above, 6 are missing when I check The Old Reader cite.
    So, it seems that some information is not transferred or transferred incorrectly. I am not sure if it is the case for all scientific cites or only for JACS journals.
