  1. "Pin" my favorite feeds so I can read them first instead of putting them on a separate folder

    I know I can create a "favorites" folder but I have many feeds, well organized, and I would like to be able to "favorite" whichever I need instead of keep changing their folders depending on my interests. This way, I could just mark the ones I want to read first and see them first, and then if I change my mind I only have to unpin them. Thanks

  3. Stop stealing the K key

    I would be happy to opt-out of all keyboard shortcuts, but this one is particularly irritating, as it prevents you from closing the browser window in the most straightforward way.

  4. Removing oldest read posts instead of oldest total

    There is a limit of around 300 posts per feed. When a feed has more than that the oldest posts are being deleted. Could you please change it so that the oldest read posts are being deleted instead? I have feeds where some articles are longer and some of them are shorter. Usually I don't have much time and I leave longer articles for later and check shorter ones. In this case I'm way under 300 posts cap in my unread posts but the oldest unread are being deleted, because there are also read posts between which I don't care…

  5. security: http login page should redirect to https! please.

    The login page should use SSL/TLS certs to encrypt data in transit between the browser and Old Reader's servers. HTTP version should redirect to SSL/TLS site. Ideally all of the traffic to the app would be encrypted, but a bare minimum should be the login page.

  6. Store original Atom metadata

    Do not strip feed/entry/category nodes of Atom RSS node.

    Famous Q&A network Stackexchange.com publishes many RSS feeds.

    Their entries contain tag "category" with very important information (tags of a question stored in this entry).

    <entry>
        <id>http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/106036/what-under-documented-features-have-you-stumbled-upon-in-mavericks</id>
        <title type="text">What un(der)-documented features have you stumbled upon in Mavericks? &#8211; apple.stackexchange.com</title>
        <category scheme="http://apple.stackexchange.com/feeds/tags" term="osx" />
        <category scheme="http://apple.stackexchange.com/feeds/tags" term="hidden-features" />
        <category scheme="http://apple.stackexchange.com/feeds/tags" term="mavericks" />
    </entry>

    Unfortunately this information is stripped from API (only TOR categories are left). TOR clients can't therefore use this information and are significantly less useful then they could be.

  7. to back-up her/his subscriptions

    At the bottom of settings page is written: "Unhappy? You can export your feeds as OPML file and cancel your account at any time." But To export as OPML doesn't necessary means leaving the service, it may simply mean that someone wants to back-up her/his subscriptions.

  8. try appending "rss" to a URL during Feed Validation

    I tried to add http://opensnow.com/dailysnow/tahoe as a feed, but the feed validation step failed:

    "It looks like this is a web page, not a feed. I looked for a feed associated with this page, but couldn't find one. Please enter the address of your feed to validate."

    As it turns out, there WAS a little 'rss' icon, but of course it doesn't show up when I search the page for "RSS" and I have a hard time seeing the little tiny icon. When I finally found it, its URL was simply the original URL plus "rss".

    Seems like it's pretty…

  9. I would like if http://array.se/feed/ doesn't make the feed list break

    Not much of a feature request but, it's quite annoying when you have to reclick the categories to be able to continue scrolling

  10. correct the numbers of items unread

    I frequently find that the number of items showing as unread for a feed in the left column does not match the number showing as unread in the right column. I'm not referring to when that pink message pops up in the upper right telling me an error occurred with the server. I mean that I can go down the items, opening each with the up or down arrows, even reading each one, and the feed list at the left tells me the number is higher than the actual unread count (sometimes it does not seem to have 'subtracted' any…

  11. don't hide the scroll bar under the "add a subscription" box initially

    When I open The Old Reader, the scroll bar for the subscriptions is hidden "under" the add subscription box. I have to close my uppermost folder to get it to appear. Once it appears, it doesn't disappear, even when moved all the way to the top or when that folder is reopened (which is good). I don't know if this has anything to do with my having a lot of folders and subscriptions or needed a rather large font. It's not a big problem, but I'd appreciate it if you fixed this. Thx.

  12. Sort feeds in a folder by number of unread posts

    I like to go through my folders by reading feeds with the most unread posts first. At the moment I just scroll through the folder's listing but this is a little inconvenient when the folder has a lot of feeds. This suggestion is similar to others which suggest some sort of folder sorting. It'd be nice if this were an option.

  13. Have "O" set to  "expand and collapse post" and have only "V" set to "Open post in a new tab".

    I wanted to make a suggestion. Instead of having both "O and V" set to "Open post in a new tab", why not change it so that "O" is set to "expand and collapse post" (like it did in Google Reader as well as AOL and Diggs reader). And just have only "V" set to "Open post in a new tab". for some reason I thought it was this way when I first started using "TheOldReader" or it could just be my imagination due to being used to that configuration. I feel this would be more keyboard friendly for people…

  14. All posts marked read problem with feeds with long articles

    I have a problem that sometimes all posts are marked read when I open one/some of the top posts. I suspect this happens with feeds with long articles.

    Conditions: I use usually next item down arrow. Mark read when scroll is on (but like I said: I have openen only the top posts). Firefox.

    For example this has happened many times with feed:

  16. Mark Articles older than X as read

    Basically this is identical to what Google Reader had. It had options like 1 week, 1 month, 6 months, etc, it will take all those articles older than the specified period and mark them as unread, but also marks the articles newer than that period as unread.

    Great for reversing accidental "Mark all as read".

  18. Allow mark feed as read without having to load the feed

    It would be great if I could mark a feed or a folder as read without having to click on the feed and load all the posts. ie: if I could right click on the feed/folder and choose an option to mark as read, that would really help with efficiency of using Old Reader for me.

  19. Allowing to have "all items" as a start page

    Hello,

    Could it be possible to have an option in the preferences that would allow to have directly the "all items" page when going on http://theoldreader.com.

    Moreover, this would also allow to jump directly on "all items" when clicking on the theolreader extension button on Safari.

    Many thank.

    Best regards,

    Olivier.

  20. <<<< Provision to see "like topics" of a followers >>>>>

    I enjoy the old reader where the world is viewed in one touch of a button. I suggest in addition to "share" topics, a followers may be allowed to view "like" topics of a member.
