  2. "No post below this line..." not appearing in feed panel on mobile device at end of list

On my Nexus 7, using Android Firefox, the message:

"No posts below this line. Probably you have read them all."

does not appear when I have scrolled to the end of the feed list.

This makes it difficult for me to judge whether I have really read all the posts in the feed or I should wait for TheOldReader to fetch more feed items.

  3. Add "Mark Previous as Read" feature

This is a feature in Google's Android app, but NOT their web interface (????). But it is OH SO helpful.

Say you have 900 unread items, but only time to scan over 300 and read 15. With this, you can scroll through the listing, check out interesting titles, skip the rest, then hit "mark previous as read" when you have to leave. Next time you come back, you start right where you left off.

It is, in my own opinion, a much more "powerful" feature than "Mark All as Read."

  4. Open the post when you click from home page

On the 'Home' page there are three unread posts in a summary view. Clicking on the feed name (generally highlighted in green), takes you to the feed, as expected. Clicking on the post title, takes you to the same view, but I would expect it to have opened the post to view, as I have chosen the title.

  5. Wrap text in list view.

Using list view in a narrow window, like on a mobile display, truncates the posts subject lines. Mobile is my main use case where this matters, but you can reproduce it with a desktop browser just by resizing it to be too skinny to display the whole thing. On my phone in portrait mode, list view in unusable because most of the subject lines are too truncated to understand what they're about. While the full view works, it makes scrolling through busy feeds take too long, especially since it includes images.

In other words, make it like the Google Reader…

  6. A "trash can" for unsubscribed feeds and folders

I've apparently deleted (or unsubscribed) inadvertently from a whole folder - EEEK! I'd love to have a way to roll back!

  7. Recommend posts to friends

Currently friends can see each other's "shared" posts, but sometimes there is a specific post that looks interesting to a specific friend; it would be nice to be able to notify that one person about that one post.

For example, today I saw a post about 3D printers in one of my subscribed feeds, and I would like to let my wife (who's also a user of The Old Reader) know about it.

I could e-mail her the post's URL, but it would be much simpler if there was a "recommend to user" option, which would in turn make the…

  8. A link to an original enclosure

Each entry should display a link to an original enclosure if there's one. E.g. see flickr.com feeds. There's a <link rel="enclosure"> for each entry, and Google Reader displays a separate link for it at the end of the entry. TheOldReader should do the same for easier access to enclosures.

  9. "Gallery" view for image-centric feeds

I think the Feedly/Blogroll "gallery" or "magazine" view is stupid for most things, which is why I'm using The Old Reader instead of those, but it does make sense for feeds that are just images, like my Flickr friends.

So after implementing "Per-feed and per-folder display settings" https://theoldreader.uservoice.com/forums/187017-feature-requests/suggestions/3738257-per-feed-and-per-folder-display-settings, it would be nice if one of those display settings was "gallery" for displaying lots of image posts as compactly as possible.

  10. Enhance "touchability"

Make the fold/unfold arrows easier to touch on touch-enabled screens on tablets. One needs to zoom in just to touch it correctly, and is annoying.

  12. let me choose a different Google account after I already selected one.

I have 2 google accounts and I logged in to the old reader with the wrong one. I signed out and ctried to sign back in, but it wouldn't let me choose from my accounts again. Instea, it automatically signed me in with the wrong one.

I had to erase several cookies from the old reader until I was able to choose accounts again. Knowing what cookies are, knowing how to erase them and recognizing that this problem was cookie related isn't very widely known among casual internet users.

  14. Have a "Next New" bookmarklet

I use Google Reader's "Next" button, that you can find under the goodies section. Once in my bookmark bar, I can click it to take me to the latest updates- on the actual blog or site. I love giving the sites hits and just visiting them.

  16. Next button feature that takes you to blogs directly using your subscription list

Much like the Google "Next" button, make a clickable button that is located in a toolbar that takes you to the next unread blog you subscribe to. (This way you visit blogs directly, but you manage your subscriptions through The Old Reader)

  17. Aphabetical Sorting Within A Folder

Please allow users to sort their subscription (not only folders) in alphabetical order.

Example: Folder News has 100 feeds. If subscription #1 posts an article starting with "Nasa discovers ..." at 1:03 PM, the subscription # 2 posts same article at 3:45 PM, we dont want to read the same article twice.

Alphabetical sorting will save us time to not read same thing twice.

    Thanks in advance

  20. Option to hide counter at unread feeds in sidebar

Having a count at each feed items introduces a negative pressure to me. Instead ive disabled this feature in Google Reader to only highlight the feeds with unread items.
