  1. Implement activitypub to allow people from the fediverse to follow my shares

With ActivityPub protocol being accepted as a W3C standard, it would be a good idea to have it in the old reader.
ActivityPub is implemented in a range of softwares like Mastodon, Pleroma, PeerTube, Funkwhale, Misskey and Plume to name a few. More implementations are coming and it means friends on Mastodon or any of those softwares could follow my profile in the old reader for instance.

There's some explanations on implementation details over here :
    https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2018/06/how-to-implement-a-basic-activitypub-server/
    And here :
    https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2018/07/how-to-make-friends-and-verify-requests/

And the w3c specs are here:

It would be very nice to have more friends being able to…

  3. Add AI-powered ranking of articles

Do you subscribe to too many feeds or too fast ones? Both? Me too. That's why I wrote a machine learning-based ranking service (https://github.com/piccolbo/rightload). But it needs to be integrated with a reader. It would also be more powerful the more people use it.

  7. search by article's url

I want to mark (star, like) article I read in my (amazon kindle) reader
I have title and url, but (in case of my favorite server) they're quite often changing article titles, so in case when in tor is article not found I must open its web page (url), copy (part of its) title and search again = being able to search for url directly in tor it will be easier for me

  8. Widget to display a list of feeds I'm subscribed to

I've searched but can't see this suggested elsewhere; apologies if this is a duplicate.

Google Reader used to have a widget that you could use in, say wordpress, to provide a list of the feeds/blogs you were following, which could be done at a folder level.

The reason why I'd like this functionality is because I follow a number of IT-related blogs that I'd like to list on my own blog. Whilst I have just hardcoded it, it would be very nice if it could be dynamic and pick up new blogs that I add over in TOR automatically.

  10. Let me find my contacts via Twitter, instead of just FB or Google.

Simply because most other services let you use Twitter contacts, and I'm sure I have more followers than FB friends using the service.

  11. Be compatible with hint-mode by making all clickable interfaces anchor tags

    tl;dr: Make <div class="pull-left list-header no-left-label">...</div> into an <a> tag.

In keyboard-focused browser interfaces, such as

    • Vimperator
    • cVim
    • vimFx
    • Vimium
    • qutebrowser

one can highlight and select links easily without the mouse. Typically, one presses 'f' (follow link) and all the links currently visible get little yellow boxes next to them. Press the keys in the box and you follow the link.

    Demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKyUQZBZRK8

Links are found by selecting all the 'a' elements on the page. Link hinting typically cannot detect if an arbitrary element has had an onClick event handler added due to browser security features.

    To support link hinting,…

  15. Search only in unread posts

    Search only in unread posts:
I want a checkbox "Search only in unread posts" next to the search button.
I often need a search which only searches in my unread posts.

  19. "Sort by popularity" and/or relevance

Going through a feed you haven't read for a few days can be painful, as hundreds or even thousands of posts may have piled up in the meantime.

Today, your options are going through everything or just marking it read and restarting.

I want a middle way, where you can sort the feed by popularity (# of starred, # of people who've clicked through, I'm sure you have a lot of metrics that can be combined to form 'popularity' ).

That way, you'll hopefully get more of the best posts you've missed in easy reach, and when you feel you've…

  20. Enable a "View starred only" Filter Option for Each Feed

The user shall be able to filter a view to a single feed by starred items only.

[1] A "View starred" button will be displayed to the right of the current "Refresh" and "Mark all as read" buttons while the user is viewing the feed. [see mockup: https://goo.gl/jAtqKY]

[2] When the user selects the "View starred" button, the displayed items in the feed will only be the items the user has starred. In addition, the text in the "Viewed starred" button will change to read, "Unview starred".

[3] When the "View starred" filter is active, the individual items displayed…
