"Sort by popularity" and/or relevance
Going through a feed you haven't read for a few days can be painful, as hundreds or even thousands of posts may have piled up in the meantime.
Today, your options are going through everything or just marking it read and restarting.
I want a middle way, where you can sort the feed by popularity (# of starred, # of people who've clicked through, I'm sure you have a lot of metrics that can be combined to form 'popularity' ).
That way, you'll hopefully get more of the best posts you've missed in easy reach, and when you feel you've…

Be compatible with hint-mode by making all clickable interfaces anchor tags
tl;dr: Make <div class="pull-left list-header no-left-label">...</div> into an <a> tag.
In keyboard-focused browser interfaces, such as
- Vimperator
- cVim
- vimFx
- Vimium
- qutebrowser
one can highlight and select links easily without the mouse. Typically, one presses 'f' (follow link) and all the links currently visible get little yellow boxes next to them. Press the keys in the box and you follow the link.
Demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKyUQZBZRK8
Links are found by selecting all the 'a' elements on the page. Link hinting typically cannot detect if an arbitrary element has had an onClick event handler added due to browser security features.
To support link hinting,…

Widget to display a list of feeds I'm subscribed to
I've searched but can't see this suggested elsewhere; apologies if this is a duplicate.
Google Reader used to have a widget that you could use in, say wordpress, to provide a list of the feeds/blogs you were following, which could be done at a folder level.
The reason why I'd like this functionality is because I follow a number of IT-related blogs that I'd like to list on my own blog. Whilst I have just hardcoded it, it would be very nice if it could be dynamic and pick up new blogs that I add over in TOR automatically.

Mark posts above currently displayed post as read (similar to "older than" but not by date)
This is a little similar to https://theoldreader.uservoice.com/forums/187017-feature-requests/suggestions/4149552-list-view-bulk-action-mark-some-as-read, except that I think having to mark checkboxes on each post would be incredibly tedious for the use case I have in mind (especially on mobile). https://theoldreader.uservoice.com/forums/187017-feature-requests/suggestions/3803731-provide-a-partial-mark-as-read-mechanism-for-list is also somewhat similar, although that appears to have been "completed" in a way other than what I have in mind here.
As described in the second post, I would like to be able to mark only part of a folder as read, with a behavior similar to "Mark all as read Older than..." feature, but without reference to a specific age of post, rather…

The "Star" button does not remove the added article from Pocket after deleting it.
Currently, flagging an article as an asterisk adds it to the Pocket app. After removing the asterisk, the article is also removed from Pocket. Can this be changed?

Fix Shift/Ctrl-Click opens the target on the current tab
Hello!
I have a problem with the web interface of TheOldReader. In almost all web browsers users can control where a clicked link should be opened:
- Control+Click to a URL opens the link in a new browser tab;
- Shift+Click to a URL opens the link in a new browser window.
That works in TheOldReader if I click on the title of an article. Unfortunately, TheOldReader tries to enforce a different behavior. If links are clicked inside an article TheOldReader opens the link in the current tab which is unexpected and very inconvenient.
For me this is extra inconvenient because I…

Changing font size within the article area
Would be a very helpful feature for accessibility without having to change the whole page structure by page zoom which affects the subscription column, buttons and overall readability.
Thank you.3 votes -
Persist user sessions across server restarts
It seems that whenever the server is restarted/updated, I get logged out. Can the user sessions be persisted to disk in those situations so that I don’t have to log in again?

Allow an option to see embedded YouTube links logged in again
Previously, embedded YouTube videos did not use the nocookie url. Now that they do, it is impossible to add videos in the feed to your own watch later list easily.

Cannot add https://fy.blackhats.net.au/rss.xml
Hello,
The blog at https://fy.blackhats.net.au/ has an RSS feed at https://fy.blackhats.net.au/rss.xml
When I try to add that URL to The Old Reader, I get
We couldn't find an exact match, but here are some similar feeds we found that might be what you're looking for. Feeds similar to https://fy.blackhats.net.au/rss.xml [Subscribe] Firstyear's blog-a-log https://fy.blackhats.net.au
Not sure why an exact URL results in this "no exact match found" message.
Clicking that [Subscribe] button makes the button change to [Loading...], and then the error "No feeds found by that keyword or URL" appears.
However, the RSS feed URL seems to be correct. I…

Save starred items to Pinboard
TheOldReader currently saves my starred items to Pocket, from where they are saved to Pinboard via an IFTT integration.
Now that Pocket is being phased out, it would be great to directly save starred items to Pinboard via their API.
Alternatively, a dedicated RSS feed of my starred items would be helpful. That could then be used to generate the Pinboard save via an external service (IFTT, Make etc).3 votes -

Fetch and show the post's (author's) tags from the source
This is something I saw on newsblur and it's very helpful in deciding whether or not to open the full-text of a post when its title is not enough.
So the line for the list view will look like:
[post title][tag 1]...[tag n]2 votes -
Close current item when clicking its title (and toggle visibility with <ENTER>)
When I read posts (in Google Reader) I sometimes "zoom" out by closing the one post I'm currently on. I'd like to have this feature in theoldreader as well. Thanks!
