  1. Use Smaller Font in Feed Title

The feed title at the top of the right-hand pane is in a very large bold font, and does not scroll with the article. ie. it is always on the screen, and advertises what you are reading about to anyone within 20 feet.

I always liked that Google Reader's subtlety. It had the same title but in a moderate sized font and scrollable.

  2. Inline install prompt for Chrome extension

The website should detect if a user has Chrome and doesn't yet have the extension/app, and prompt to install them.

    Implementation guidelines: https://developers.google.com/chrome/web-store/docs/inline_installation

  3. fix discrepancy between unread-posts-counter and displayed feeds

The last few days, two of my feeds have had a (1) next to them, and thus the "all items" feed has had a (2) next to it. But none of them display any unread items. Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/jeGiJnC.png

  4. Mobile website unstable and breaks too easily

I can barely use TOR from my Android phone (4.1.2) from the Browser AND Firefox for Android 21.

After a server error or randomly when performing any action, I will be either stuck on the Home screen, or I will be logged out.

I do not experience this from Win 7 Firefox 21... well maybe rarely.

  5. Blogger

The only thing I want with a new rss reader is to be able to post the posts I want to to blogger. If you plan to add this feature GREAT! If not, can you tell me any rss reader that does? I'd greatly appreciate it

  7. highlight the mobile web on your website.

I'm a Google Reader refugee and I really like what I see in The Old Reader!

Many people are looking for a mobile app and don't seem to realize that the mobile web version is excellent!

I suggest you highlight this for new users as a way to satisfy those folks. Just add a shortcut button that goes to the web page and presto, no need for a native app.

Many people seem to want an app for everything, when many apps just a the browser internally.

  8. Add a style to current/active item

Unless I'm missing something, there is nothing to distinguish the current/selected item from any other unread item (the left border goes away). Something to distinguish it would be nice - or even just add an active class to that item so I can do it with my user css :)

  9. List view width adjustments

The current list view has 3 parts, specified as:
    120px, 58%, 66px

This mixture of % and fixed pixels corrupts the display on small screens, and wastes space on large screen.

Please remove the "4 hours ago" on the right side, and this allows for a nice: 20% (feed title) 80% (article title) layout.

This keeps all titles properly justified, and using all available space, at all screen sizes.

(This also fixes: "Wrap text in list view", and many others)

  11. Show read subscriptions

If I enable the option to hide read subscriptions, and I want to access that subscription to find a certain post, there is no way to select it without disabling that option.

  12. "Go to tag/subscription/friend" keyboard shortcuts

Few very useful shortcuts are still missing (compared to Google Reader). Quoting GR help:

g then u go to subscription allows you to navigate to a subscription by entering the subscription name

g then t go to tag allows you to navigate to a tag by entering the tag name

g then f go to friend allows you to navigate to a friend's shared items by entering the friend's name

Is it possible to alphabetize feeds manually or automatically?

  17. Adding Persons By Twitter search/Google News/Google Blog

In Google reader you can add a feed by "John Brown" + " Canada" in a google reader search option. How is this done on the Oldreader or is it to come as a feature

  18. Provide option to make list view (even) more compact, to help with high-volume feeds.

Big feeds like Zero Hedge or Hacker News pump out hundreds of posts per day -- RSS readers with an ultracompact list view make scanning these much easier. If The Old Reader had an ultracompact option, that'd be immensely helpful (less scrolling).

  19. Fix dead feeds

Under dead feeds, there are 5 feeds which say they have been updated 9 months ago, 3 months ago, etc. However, I also have feeds which were only updated 3 years ago which are not showing up under dead feeds. Seems like this feature is not working correctly.

  20. Extra audio support

Google Reader, Netvibes and Feedly seem to be able to play all of my mp3 podcast feeds perfectly in Firefox.

Theoldreader seems to do nothing when i press play.

Having emailed support they say it's because Firefox doesn't support mp3 files (which I find odd as the other three players seem to cope fine).

I propose that theoldreader add an extra case so that it uses the existing <audio> html tag for other browsers but embeds the audio in the same way Google etc. do for Firefox users.
