  1. List view in mobile - open posts at top of post

On my iPhone when viewing in list view, it seems to open the post sometimes at the bottom of the post, sometimes the middle, rarely (but not never) the top. Consistency at the top would be better

  2. a tab for seeing the original post

This helps a lot for feeds that don't include the full-text in the feed. Or don't post things like user comments in the feed. Instead of clicking on the post to open it in a new window/tab it'd be nice if once can just click on tab under the post to switch from "feed view" to "original view".

  3. "No post below this line..." not appearing in feed panel on mobile device at end of list

On my Nexus 7, using Android Firefox, the message:

"No posts below this line. Probably you have read them all."

does not appear when I have scrolled to the end of the feed list.

This makes it difficult for me to judge whether I have really read all the posts in the feed or I should wait for TheOldReader to fetch more feed items.

  4. Multiple sharing channels

GR featured channels/folders/tags you could make public via RSS.

E.g. you could have channels named "science news" and "health" which you would be able to syndicate further to sites like FB.

(It would be AWESOME to have it here. This feature was the only thing keeping me on GR.)

  5. Aphabetical Sorting Within A Folder

Please allow users to sort their subscription (not only folders) in alphabetical order.

Example: Folder News has 100 feeds. If subscription #1 posts an article starting with "Nasa discovers ..." at 1:03 PM, the subscription # 2 posts same article at 3:45 PM, we dont want to read the same article twice.

Alphabetical sorting will save us time to not read same thing twice.

    Thanks in advance

  6. tidy display of posts with pictures

Posts with pictures at the top align the first line of the text to the right of the image and then there's a big gap before the text continues below the image. It would be awesome if you could prevent this from happening somehow.

  7. Make sure you have a business model which is profitable and if that includes advertising, so be it.

None of us want a repeat of what we have gone through with the Google Reader fiasco this past week. Google failed to capitalize on their system by not bothering to directly generate revenue from what they were doing. I am not convinced you can exist without a profitable business model so if that means you need to incorporate advertising on your pages, please do so. Advertising could certainly and easily be tuned to the type of feeds we are using so I see the potential as enormous. Given your now massive user base, the potential for income for you…

  8. Sort subscriptions by number of unread

Allow sorting of subscriptions by the number of unread items. You could sort either least -> most or most -> least. This way, you could hit all the "small" volume subscriptions first and get to the fuller ones later (or vice-versa)

  10. enable import from iGoogle

iGoogle is being discontinued as well - would be nice to be able to import feeds from there into OldReader

iGoogle exports as .xml - I can provide an example if needed

    thx...

  11. Bug: Up/Down buttons don't work when page is scrolled slightly

    To reproduce:

    1. Go to All Items.
    2. Click an item in the middle of the list.
    3. Scroll up a bit.
    4. Click the Up arrow button in the top right area.

Expected: to move to the article directly above, i.e. if I was on the 7th item it would then open #6.

Actual: the item at the top of the list is opened instead.

  12. Always visible "Mark All As Read" button

It's clumsy to scroll to All Items in order to reveal the Mark All As Read button. Maybe it's just me, but I 'empty' OldReader when I'm finished with a session.

  13. Close current item when clicking its title (and toggle visibility with <ENTER>)

When I read posts (in Google Reader) I sometimes "zoom" out by closing the one post I'm currently on. I'd like to have this feature in theoldreader as well. Thanks!

  16. Open the post when you click from home page

On the 'Home' page there are three unread posts in a summary view. Clicking on the feed name (generally highlighted in green), takes you to the feed, as expected. Clicking on the post title, takes you to the same view, but I would expect it to have opened the post to view, as I have chosen the title.

  17. Provide feed items longer than Google Reader

A clear reason to switch from Google Reader to The Old Reader would be if it were not just familiar but actually better than its predecessor. Therefore I suggest you allow at least 3 months worth of feed items. Google Reader allowed only one month and it was often a major pain.

  18. Add option for image previews in list mode / tile mode

One possible aesthetic improvement would be to display a scaled down image from each post in a slightly more spread-out version of the list view. Or better yet (imo) add an additional option for a tile / mosaic mode, similar to some other much-touted Google Reader alternatives. You might be deliberately avoiding the tile design bandwagon, but I at least think images help greatly in making a long line of posts more pleasant to navigate and go through.

  19. "Gallery" view for image-centric feeds

I think the Feedly/Blogroll "gallery" or "magazine" view is stupid for most things, which is why I'm using The Old Reader instead of those, but it does make sense for feeds that are just images, like my Flickr friends.

So after implementing "Per-feed and per-folder display settings" https://theoldreader.uservoice.com/forums/187017-feature-requests/suggestions/3738257-per-feed-and-per-folder-display-settings, it would be nice if one of those display settings was "gallery" for displaying lots of image posts as compactly as possible.

  20. Support Media RSS feeds with multiple file enclosures such as Blip.TV and other video podcasts.

Several sites have Media RSS feeds with multiple file enclosures -- for instance the same video in several different formats. Right now, only a single file is shown. Adding support for Media RSS feeds would make TheOldReader a lot more useful for folks who subscribe to video podcasts and other media-rich feeds.
