  1. Sort subscriptions by number of unread

Allow sorting of subscriptions by the number of unread items. You could sort either least -> most or most -> least. This way, you could hit all the "small" volume subscriptions first and get to the fuller ones later (or vice-versa)

  3. enable import from iGoogle

iGoogle is being discontinued as well - would be nice to be able to import feeds from there into OldReader

iGoogle exports as .xml - I can provide an example if needed

    thx...

  4. Bug: Up/Down buttons don't work when page is scrolled slightly

    To reproduce:

    1. Go to All Items.
    2. Click an item in the middle of the list.
    3. Scroll up a bit.
    4. Click the Up arrow button in the top right area.

Expected: to move to the article directly above, i.e. if I was on the 7th item it would then open #6.

Actual: the item at the top of the list is opened instead.

  5. Always visible "Mark All As Read" button

It's clumsy to scroll to All Items in order to reveal the Mark All As Read button. Maybe it's just me, but I 'empty' OldReader when I'm finished with a session.

  6. Close current item when clicking its title (and toggle visibility with <ENTER>)

When I read posts (in Google Reader) I sometimes "zoom" out by closing the one post I'm currently on. I'd like to have this feature in theoldreader as well. Thanks!

  9. Open the post when you click from home page

On the 'Home' page there are three unread posts in a summary view. Clicking on the feed name (generally highlighted in green), takes you to the feed, as expected. Clicking on the post title, takes you to the same view, but I would expect it to have opened the post to view, as I have chosen the title.

  10. Provide feed items longer than Google Reader

A clear reason to switch from Google Reader to The Old Reader would be if it were not just familiar but actually better than its predecessor. Therefore I suggest you allow at least 3 months worth of feed items. Google Reader allowed only one month and it was often a major pain.

  11. Add option for image previews in list mode / tile mode

One possible aesthetic improvement would be to display a scaled down image from each post in a slightly more spread-out version of the list view. Or better yet (imo) add an additional option for a tile / mosaic mode, similar to some other much-touted Google Reader alternatives. You might be deliberately avoiding the tile design bandwagon, but I at least think images help greatly in making a long line of posts more pleasant to navigate and go through.

  12. "Gallery" view for image-centric feeds

I think the Feedly/Blogroll "gallery" or "magazine" view is stupid for most things, which is why I'm using The Old Reader instead of those, but it does make sense for feeds that are just images, like my Flickr friends.

So after implementing "Per-feed and per-folder display settings" https://theoldreader.uservoice.com/forums/187017-feature-requests/suggestions/3738257-per-feed-and-per-folder-display-settings, it would be nice if one of those display settings was "gallery" for displaying lots of image posts as compactly as possible.

  13. Support Media RSS feeds with multiple file enclosures such as Blip.TV and other video podcasts.

Several sites have Media RSS feeds with multiple file enclosures -- for instance the same video in several different formats. Right now, only a single file is shown. Adding support for Media RSS feeds would make TheOldReader a lot more useful for folks who subscribe to video podcasts and other media-rich feeds.

  14. Improved documentation to help guide the tons of new users that must have flocked here after the demise of Google Reader was announced.

The Knowledge Base is pretty short on answers, even for a product that is fairly intuitive. Please, someone should be posting Q&As on the Web site every day in this period of high attention, and the signed-in view should have a "Help" button somewhere.

  16. let me choose a different Google account after I already selected one.

I have 2 google accounts and I logged in to the old reader with the wrong one. I signed out and ctried to sign back in, but it wouldn't let me choose from my accounts again. Instea, it automatically signed me in with the wrong one.

I had to erase several cookies from the old reader until I was able to choose accounts again. Knowing what cookies are, knowing how to erase them and recognizing that this problem was cookie related isn't very widely known among casual internet users.

  17. Please add "skip to the next post" button at the top of every item in mobile interface

Just like google reader has. While using desktop version, a "n" shortcut is handy for that but you can't use it on mobile unfortunately. But it is even more important to be able to jump to another item since scrolling is so much slower.

  19. Move the mp3 player...

    Hey Guys!
Thanks for adding the mp3 player so fast!!!!
Hate to ask a follow up, but if the mp3 player was on the left hand side of the screen, I could play a podcast while still reading and browsing. Right now, I have to start playing the mp3 and then open a new tab, so I can still go through my feeds.

    Thanks again!

  20. Multi-Column View

Having a multi-column view to quickly scroll through feeds was something I loved in the Sage extension for Firefox (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/sage/). It was sorely lacking in Google Reader until I found a user style for it (http://userstyles.org/styles/21444/google-reader-multicolumn-expanded-view). Having at least two, but ideally as many columns as defined by user preference, as an option in Old Reader would make quickly skimming large feeds a lot easier.
