Improve speed
The only problem for me is the speed. Both speed navigating through the feeds categories and speed for geting the feed.
Speed navigation is better now, but still a bit slow comparing to others readers.
So the speed of feed update is the major problem right now.

display articles in order of arrival, not by publication time
I asked about this on the forum and was told "many users" prefer articles ordered by publication time. I find it hard to believe any high volume reader would prefer this. I get hundreds of posts a day, I want to see them all at the top when they arrive, not constantly be scrolling back to find the ones that got fetched hours after they were published.

Reduce delay in posting articles on TOR (make it premium?)
I have noticed a pretty significant delay (many hours) between the posting of an article in the original blog and seeing it on TOR at least for things like Krugman's blog). This is especially annoying for "big" blogs (like Krugman) where I want to get an early comment in, before inundation or even closing of comments. Please optimize this -- it is much worse than Google Reader was. If this requires more computing power, make it a premium feature -- if the price is reasonable ($2-5/mo?) and there are some other useful premium features (like faster opening of the article…

OVERRIDE REFRESH
I am trying to unsubscribe from a feed. I get this message:
Could not unsubscribe. Refresh is in progress, please try again later.
Allow me to cancel the refresh so I can unsubscribe.

Delete old stuff
I feel that the interface is slow and I suspect the reason is that my feeds have many entries.
I think it would be great if you let me configure on a per feed basis if I want old entries (ones I already read) to be kept or not.
Most of my feeds are about things I don't care about after reading, so I want them to be deleted if that will speed things up1 vote -
Make o, v, and b open the selected item, not the topmost visible item.
When you click on an item in the middle of screen, the list scrolls until the item is at the top of the screen. If you then scroll the screen down to show items above the selected item and then hit o, v, or b the topmost item will be opened in a tab instead of the selected item.

Update CNN more often!
When I used Google Reader CNN was updated almost instantly. Now I rarely have anything from CNN and it looks like the last time you updated was almost 12 hours ago. This is pointless!

link to share to invite people to follow
Other services have a link and sometimes a graphic that can be posted on a person's blog and will allow readers to follow with one click. Is there such a feature with The Old Reader?
1 voteRight top corner menu → Profile. That’s it.

Allow me to transfer a Google-linked account to an Old Reader account
I initially created my account as a Google-linked account, and I now regret having done so, as I'm trying to get away from having Google track all of my activity online. It would be nice if I could create an Old Reader account without the link to my Google account and transfer my feeds to that.
1 voteYou could create password in settings at any time and use it to authenticate.

Password-protected feeds
I would love to be able to follow the full RSS feeds for password-protected sites (e.g., Livejournal, where each individual users' feed can contain a mix of open and password-protected entries).
11 votesYou can now use basic authentication to access RSS feeds using the url format: http(s)://username:password@url.com

link accounts
I log-in through Google, but want to link that account to my Facebook account. If I log-in through Facebook, it shows that I have no subscriptions since that account is apparently empty. How to I link the two accounts?
1 voteYou should delete your newly created Facebook linked account, login to previous one, and connect your Facebook using “Find friends” then.

“Uservoice isn’t a support center. Either way you should receive an e-mail with a confirmation link. In my case I had to wait for the e-mail around 20 minutes, so by the time you’ve posted this you should have already received it. ;)” -
Trending Sort?
Trending doesn't seem to follow the user's setting "Posts order." I don't know if this is intentional or the sort order is based off some magic trending algorithm.
0 votesTrending is sorted by popularity – i.e. by the number of likes of each post.

Ability to share with followers and not the public
I like the ability to share items publicly, but it would also be nice to only share items with people who follow you, all or specific people.
And it would also be nice if you could prevent people from commenting on your public shared items.
35 votesThis has now been released. If you go to your settings, you can choose to protect your shared items. If selected, you must approve all new follow requests, and your shared items will not be available to anyone except your followers.
If you “like” a post, your name may still appear on the post for all users.

turn off desktop notifications
I don't want desktop notification, but clicking the wrench icon and selecting disable removes it from my running applications in Chrome. How do I just turn off notifications?
