Make new button next to button Make all as read. It button would make post older than X days read, where X is number of days defined by user or predefined (1, 3 and 5 days)10 votes
This is now available as 1 day, 1 week, 1 month or 1 year.
Currently, when I click on a post I'm reading it scrolls up to the top of the post, which is annoying and makes me lose my place.10 votes
I love the sharing feature (ala old Google Reader), but if someone is using a different RSS reader to follow my shares, the RSS feed doesn't contain the comment I placed when I shared the item.
Response comments would also be nice on the RSS feed, but not as important.
Adding that, would let my profile page be like a microblog.
The follower should also have an easy way to access the shared post specifically to add response comments.
Done. There is “tor:note” tag containing user’s note in plain text and “comments” tag containing link to user’s profile with specific post preloaded on top of it.
It would be nice to have a keystroke for "Mark All As Read" for keyboard heavy users.10 votes
add support for json feeds, such as storenvy's products.json which has replaced their rss feed10 votes
Just rolled out support for JSON Feed. Let us know if you have any issues.
At least three times I've ruined my feeds by accidentally hitting "mark all as read". At the very LEAST there should be a " confirm" prompt - ideally the mark all as read button should be hidden in a menu instead of right where it can be easily fat-fingered and there'd be an undo function.10 votes
There is now a setting on the users page that will confirm when the “mark all as read” button is pressed.

This means if my friend John shares an article from The Onion, I can't tell that it's an article from The Onion because it will look like
PRESIDENT OBAMA RECALLS PICKLES
John by Joe Smith
PRESIDENT OBAMA RECALLS PICKLES
The Onion by Joe Smith
The item's source should not be obscured. This is valuable information.9 votes
Reading Hebrew feeds is painful: The text is left-aligned, and bidi is all wrong, which means if there are any numbers/Latin in a line, the text flow is completely broken.9 votes

Option to hide Unsubscribe button in main pane.
If you are used to use Mark All As Read, it is easy to accidentally click the Unsubscribe button because of its close proximity.9 votes
This is how Google reader behaves and it is slightly easier as I often use j and k for navigation and won't have to move the placement of my fingers.9 votes

Google reader lets you play feeds with mp3s in them wtih a web based mp3 player.
to google reader to see it in action. I add the same link to T.O.R and no mp3s.
Solution, when I click a link with an mp3/podcast in it, an mp3 player should pop up under my folder list so I can play my podcast and keep browsing.9 votes
Making pub-compatible feeds refresh almost instantly.8 votes
Open new tab, go to theoldreader, click one of the feeds.
After that pressing Up/Down arrows on keybord will scroll the feeds list, not the feed content, you need to click in content area to focus it.
I know about J and K hotkeys, but arrows are kind of native thing for navigation.
BTW Google Reader somehow does the focus of content area :)7 votes

When sharing podcast feed items, enclosures are not showing up in the share feed. I used this feature a lot in Google Reader to create my own "mix tape" of podcast items.7 votes
This would make it so that my shared items can be accessed by someone using a different feed reader (feedly, or HiveReader, etc...)7 votes
All the links and images in Tim's blog at http://www.tbray.org/ongoing/ongoing.atom are broken when viewing an entry in The Old Reader. I'm guess the reader doesn't handle the xml:base attribute on feed and/or entry elements correctly. Please fix!6 votes
This has been fixed.
When you click on an item in the middle of screen, the list scrolls until the item is at the top of the screen. If you then scroll the screen down to show items above the selected item and then hit o, v, or b the topmost item will be opened in a tab instead of the selected item.6 votes
