  1. Import all entries contained in a feed

Most of my feeds provide 100 articles at a time, but "the old reader" only imports 20 of them. This has actually prevented me from becoming a regular user of your service. Please import all items contained in a feed.

  2. Charge based on the frequency of feed refreshes

I'm new and really want to use this site as my RSS Feed Reader, but it is very slow to refresh my feeds so I can read new posts. I know you are inundated with new users and to make this site really fast will require lots of server resources. I'm used to Google Reader checking my feeds every few minutes and me noticing there are unread updates waiting to be read. So you can afford to use Cloud-based hosting and use as many servers as you need to be able to update my feeds every few minutes, I suggest…

  3. Share folders of feeds publicly: like Google Reader Bundles

Google Reader had the ability to share folders of feeds publicly (as "Bundles") so users could share unique content sources by topic area. This curation allows new users to quickly get plugged into a topic, and can help experts/social media managers to discriminate sources to interested parties.

  5. Fetch Full Content

I use some chrome plugins with google reader that fetch the full content (or specific parts of the content) from the site when the RSS feed is abbreviated. I would love for this functionality to be built into the old reader (or have those plugins work with the old reader).

  7. Move the mp3 player...

    Hey Guys!
Thanks for adding the mp3 player so fast!!!!
Hate to ask a follow up, but if the mp3 player was on the left hand side of the screen, I could play a podcast while still reading and browsing. Right now, I have to start playing the mp3 and then open a new tab, so I can still go through my feeds.

    Thanks again!

  8. Make img title/alt text readable on mobile

When reading XKCD in theoldreader on iPad I can't see a way to make the img title text visible. Google Reader added a little + button which showsthe alt text, it would be great to have this in theoldreader as well. Thanks!

  9. fix discrepancy between unread-posts-counter and displayed feeds

The last few days, two of my feeds have had a (1) next to them, and thus the "all items" feed has had a (2) next to it. But none of them display any unread items. Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/jeGiJnC.png

  10. minimize google account access levels requested for login

If i look in my google profile, at the list of services authorized to access my account, most if not all sites that uses open ID for login only require 'Sign in using your google account'.
Your site requires more - 'Google+ You'.
If you truly only need openid login (you have marked http://theoldreader.uservoice.com/forums/187017-feature-requests/suggestions/3743312-allow-me-to-authenticate-via-google-without-giving as completed, after all) please only require that level of access. It is good that you stopped requiring access to contacts, but not enough.

  11. Adding feed reader to Firefox

By adding a javascript button wqith the below instead of having to set it up manually as suggested to do in your tips&tricks:

    navigator.registerContentHandler("application/vnd.mozilla.maybe.feed",
    "http://theoldreader.com/feeds/subscribe?url=%s",
    "The Old Reader");

  12. Multi-Column View

Having a multi-column view to quickly scroll through feeds was something I loved in the Sage extension for Firefox (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/sage/). It was sorely lacking in Google Reader until I found a user style for it (http://userstyles.org/styles/21444/google-reader-multicolumn-expanded-view). Having at least two, but ideally as many columns as defined by user preference, as an option in Old Reader would make quickly skimming large feeds a lot easier.

  13. Do not strip background colours of feeds

For example for the RSS feed of wikipedia's recent changes, the changes to each wiki article are highlighted through the use of colours.
    See:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:RecentChanges&feed=atom

However, background colors are stripped to conform with the theme of the old reader, but making it difficult to see what has actually changed.

Please add the setting to disable this.

  14. Auto translate posts

I have some feeds where some posts are in languages other than English thus can't read them. I'd find it extremely useful if I could have those auto translated to a language that I can read so that I can understand what is going on. This needs to be done on a post by post basis as each post is potentially a different language, rather than at the feed level.

  15. Allows feeds to be in multiple folders

In Google Reader I had multiple overlapping categories, and feeds duplicated between categories. Unless I'm missing something, TOR restricts feeds to a single category.

  16. Allow me to search all the way back.

This is what Google Reader did really well, and I feel a Google Reader substitute should do. I would pay for this (https://theoldreader.uservoice.com/forums/187017-feature-requests/suggestions/3743628-charge-for-the-darn-thing-if-it-keeps-it-from-goin).

Google Reader saved every item it showed from the moment you subscribed to a feed. This allowed me to use GReader as a research tool. The Old Reader has stated it will only ‘store up to several hundred of posts per feed’. (https://theoldreader.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/146276-how-many-posts-per-feed-do-you-store-) That’s just not enough.

Some feeds I follow get over 30 updates per day. Think websites like The Next Web and MetaFilter. How many days will The Old Reader save?…

This is for the most part now available with Premium accounts. We store posts up to 6 months old, and the title and body of the post will be in the search index for premium subscribers.

  17. a tab for seeing the original post

This helps a lot for feeds that don't include the full-text in the feed. Or don't post things like user comments in the feed. Instead of clicking on the post to open it in a new window/tab it'd be nice if once can just click on tab under the post to switch from "feed view" to "original view".

  18. Fetch and show the post's (author's) tags from the source

This is something I saw on newsblur and it's very helpful in deciding whether or not to open the full-text of a post when its title is not enough.
So the line for the list view will look like:
    [post title][tag 1]...[tag n]

  19. View unread + liked posts

I often use the star/like feature to mark read posts that I want to refer back to. I would like the option to see all the posts that are relevant to me (that means unread as well as liked) when viewing a feed.

The liked posts view is unfortunately pretty worthless to me as it shows me all liked posts. Without the context of the feed there are just too many posts here for me to find anything or get any sort of overview.

  20. Subscribe by clicking Chrome extension button.

When a site has an rss feed, the extension button should show for example a plus, to let you know that the site you are on, has a feed that you can subscribe to.

Then you should be able to right click the button and select subscribe directly.
