  2. Allow me to authenticate via Google without giving you any access to my contacts

    Checking for other people in my contacts who use The Old Reader is not a core requirement for the product to work, and I don't want you to have my contacts at all.

    This pretty much means I can't use your product at all.

  4. Make shift+j and shift+k also do what shift+n and shift+p do

    This is how Google reader behaves and it is slightly easier as I often use j and k for navigation and won't have to move the placement of my fingers.

  6. Sort by getting date and tome

    Sometimes new posts are below the posts I have marked as unread (I have the reader set up to show unread posts only, newest on top).

    It seems, that the items are sorted by the date and time the item was created and when the feed is read and contains posts older than the items I have already seen, then these older posts go below the posts I have seen.

    Then, to read newly found posts I have to scroll down and again mark the posts I have seen before as unread.

    Would it be possible to add an option…

  7. Make a users Shared Items an RSS feed that can be accessed by other services.

    This would make it so that my shared items can be accessed by someone using a different feed reader (feedly, or HiveReader, etc...)

  8. support RTL (Hebrew/Arabic)

    Reading Hebrew feeds is painful: The text is left-aligned, and bidi is all wrong, which means if there are any numbers/Latin in a line, the text flow is completely broken.

  9. refresh favicon

    some feeds in my account have default favicon. is it possible to refresh it some how ?

  10. Make posts from X days as read

    Make new button next to button Make all as read. It button would make post older than X days read, where X is number of days defined by user or predefined (1, 3 and 5 days)

  11. Selectively mark posts as (un-)read

    Could you implement a function to mark posts "older than ..." as read?
    Would be also nice to set specific feeds as read.

  12. Don't mark everything above the clicked-on post as read.

    I read a lot of webcomics/time ordered content in and it is incredibly annoying that clicking on a post automatically marks everything above it (i.e. everything I'm about to read) as read. It means that I have no idea where I'm up to through a browser restart.

    Please Please, never mark something as read if i've never actually opened and/or read it.

    (Tested in Chrome/FF)

  13. Windows Phone/Windows 8 RT app

    After the iOS or Android app, it would be nice if there is coming a app for Windows Phone and Windows 8 (RT).

  14. Include audio enclosures when sharing podcast feed items

    When sharing podcast feed items, enclosures are not showing up in the share feed. I used this feature a lot in Google Reader to create my own "mix tape" of podcast items.

  15. bookmarklet to go to next item in a folder

    Google Reader has a bookmarklet that goes to the next item in a feed or folder. It looks like this:

  16. Position in import queue not visible any more

    I used to see my position in the import queue. It was once around 30.000. In time it went down to around 12.000. But now, when I click the import link the only thing I see is the following text:

    We find feed import to be quite resource intensive procedure, so our system only allows a limited number of import operations to run at the same time. Currently all available slots are busy, so your import operation will be queued.

    Doesn't indicate any progress and it doesn't look good this way. Please bring back printing the queue position.

  17. Unread feeds button?

    Dear Old Reader,

    My feeds are not appearing chronologically and I need to individually click items to read them.

    It would be amazing to have a way to click a button to just read the unread ones. (Clicking "Home" or "All Items" has not worked for me).

    Apart from this, I would like to commend you on a very nice program!

  18. API for subscribing to feed

    I know there's a suggestion for an API, but that's just a huge vague task.

    I'm just suggesting something for adding feed urls via a get request....

    or some such ( yes, that just happened to be the feed I was adding now ).

    I was trying to add a new feed via Google's reader extension, and since it was possible to manually decide services to parse the RSS feed, I wanted to specify your service.

  19. Process the Unicode RTL Mark to display right-to-left content properly
