Sending to evernote posts that I like
At this moment I do a think that is really great. I have a trigger on ifttt that send to Evernote each post that I like on GReader, that means that I my evernote account I have a folder that has inside all the posts that I liked, organized by the feed title. It's easy to do, maybe just adding RSS to the "Love" section, or integrating itself in The old reader (maybe better).

add a keyboard shortcut for closing the current item
I like the new keyboard shortcuts (as of 1 May) but you appear to be missing one for closing or collapsing the item that is currently being read. In Google Reader it's 'o'. Since you use that for opening the post in a new tab, you might use 'x' which would match up nicely with Shift+x (collapse selected folder).

include user's notes in rss stream of shared items
self-explanatory, i think. (this would allow users, for example, to build a microblog/annotated link-dump directly from the old reader.)
there is a similar, but more complex request here:
http://theoldreader.uservoice.com/forums/187017-feature-requests/suggestions/3746947-let-the-profile-rss-feed-show-initial-shared-comme16 votesDone. There is “tor:note” tag containing user’s note in plain text.

Within a folder, we should be able to chronologically without having to see all of the posts from one feed.
Unless I am missing the setting, it seems that posts are arranged by feed, then chronologically. In Google Reader, we are able to see posts chronologically, even if it means not showing all of the posts from one feed back to back (i.e. If Feed A has a post a noon and then 2:30, and Feed B has a post a 1:00, I would like to See The post from Feed A, Then Feed B, Then Feed A. It currently Shows the two posts from Feed A, then Post from Feed B)
78 votesActually, posts are supposed to be sorted by the time they are fetched. Due to some feed fetching delays we are seeing right now because of the massive influx of new users, new posts are being grouped by feed. This should stop happening as soon as we are back to normal feed fetching schedule. Please check http://status.theoldreader.com/ for the updates.

"Mark All As Read" Keystroke
It would be nice to have a keystroke for "Mark All As Read" for keyboard heavy users.

Add option to open items in background tabs
I generally read through feed items and open the ones I want to read fully in a seperate tab using middle mouse click. An option to always open tabs in the background when hitting 'o' would be very useful.
There are various ways to solve this using JavaScript, hopefully the team can find a good solution.
55 votesThere is now a “b” keyboard shortcut for that.
We could not make it work in Firefox, but feel free to send us patches if you know a cross-browser solution.

don't mark newer items as read when reading an older item
Say you open a category and there are 10 new, unread items. When you click the 5th item, it opens and you can read it. But now items 1-4 are also marked as read (no green bar anymore), while the items 6-10 are left unread.
This is confusing and unlogical, especially when you read chronologically (older items first, moving your way up).
3 votesPlease turn off ‘scroll to mark as read’ option in settings.

justify list view and add snippets
there's two huge changes your list view could use that would make it way more readable:
1) justify all of the article titles at the same indentation as each other. essentially, there should be a column for the feed title and a column for the article title - this is how google reader does list view. right now, having a tag prepended to the title in list view is hard to visually scan and is jarring.
2) include the initial bit of content from the article alongside the title. again, this is something google reader's list view does and it…

Send subscriber count in user agent of feed crawler
The feed fetchers/crawlers of most web-based rss readers send the number of subscribed users in the UserAgent header when fetching the feed. This allows authors to track the overall subscriber count for their blogs. Please add such statistics to your crawler's UserAgent header.
31 votesDone. Format: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; theoldreader.com; 1 subscribers; feed-id=74898c0fee35cf8e1e9ba77f)

Clarify what normal and reverse order are.
In the settings, you have the option to sort the posts in normal and reverse order, some information about what normal and reverse are would be nice. For example
normal (new posts first)
reverse (old posts first)Or whatever normal and reverse are.

make the timestamps on the posts say when was it posted and not how long ago
I find it rather more useful to see when was the post created, posted or fetched instead of looking at how long ago was that. It is easier to read posts starting at a certain hour o time and not having to count back the hours. Thank you
2 votesYou can now hover the post to see exact timestamp.

Use ? to dismiss the shortcut menu
? does a find job of bringing up the list of shortcut keys.
It would be nice if it would also DISMISS the list. Right now only ESC works.
That way you can keep you hands on homerow, hit ? to quickly remind yourself what key to use, then ? again to dismiss it.

load icon fonts over https when serving over https
Currently, fonts for icons are apparently loaded from http://s.theoldreader.com even when using https. If one's browser is configured to block mixed active content, this may cause icons not to render (even while letting, e.g., external images in feeds will work fine). For example, setting the security.mixedcontent.blockactivecontent hidden pref in Firefox (to be default in Firefox 23 -- https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/showbug.cgi?id=834836) will break icons.

Minor bug: scrolling to mark as read not working by default
After opening a feed or folder, scrolling past does not mark items as read or update the unread count in the left sidebar.
Toggling the 'show all posts'/'show unread only' button after opening a feed DOES seem to tweak something that causes these to start working as expected, but whatever is getting tweaked resets itself again as soon as another feed/folder is clicked. It's slow and hard to remember to do that everytime a new feed is opened.
Loving the old reader, but having a hard time making it a daily driver until this is fixed - got a lot…

No focus on content area
Open new tab, go to theoldreader, click one of the feeds.
After that pressing Up/Down arrows on keybord will scroll the feeds list, not the feed content, you need to click in content area to focus it.
I know about J and K hotkeys, but arrows are kind of native thing for navigation.
BTW Google Reader somehow does the focus of content area :)7 votes -
Allow folders to be arranged like individual feeds
Currently I can rearrange my individual feeds how I like but I cannot place a folder wherever I want. Would be cool to allow that. Thanks!

Make option to open "All Items" when clicking the extension
When clicking the chrome extension it opens "Home", it would be faster (also less page requests) it it opens automatically "All Items" page.
