add an mp3 player
Google reader lets you play feeds with mp3s in them wtih a web based mp3 player.
Add: http://www.cbc.ca/podcasting/includes/wiretap.xml
to google reader to see it in action. I add the same link to T.O.R and no mp3s.Solution, when I click a link with an mp3/podcast in it, an mp3 player should pop up under my folder list so I can play my podcast and keep browsing.

When "Clicking on a post scrolls to it" is enabled, only scroll up when the post is not active
Currently, when I click on a post I'm reading it scrolls up to the top of the post, which is annoying and makes me lose my place.

Share to Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and others
I think the current sharing functionality can be modified to allow both TOR sharing and other sorts of social sharing. Without knowing your business model, it's difficult to understand if this is against it, but I would expect many users to request this feature (which is already supported by Feedly).
I have seen that you have declined a similar request a month ago. But I believe things have changed quite a bit after Google's announcement and you may want to revisit this topic.

An option to remove yourself from the import queue.
I have just imported my subscriptions from Google Reader manualy (actualy using javascript and your feeds/subscribe?=url feature :-) ), so I no longer need to have my subscriptions imported. It would be nice to have an option to cancel the import process to speed up the queue.

to let to send subscriptions to Kindle
The best thing in Google Reader was the possibility to get my feed to my Kindle: http://www.klip.me/googlereader/welcome
It would be perfect to be able to use this feature with your reader after Google retire their reader.

justify list view and add snippets
there's two huge changes your list view could use that would make it way more readable:
1) justify all of the article titles at the same indentation as each other. essentially, there should be a column for the feed title and a column for the article title - this is how google reader does list view. right now, having a tag prepended to the title in list view is hard to visually scan and is jarring.
2) include the initial bit of content from the article alongside the title. again, this is something google reader's list view does and it…

let the profile RSS feed show initial shared comment and link to share
I love the sharing feature (ala old Google Reader), but if someone is using a different RSS reader to follow my shares, the RSS feed doesn't contain the comment I placed when I shared the item.
Response comments would also be nice on the RSS feed, but not as important.
Adding that, would let my profile page be like a microblog.
The follower should also have an easy way to access the shared post specifically to add response comments. Thanks!
10 votesDone. There is “tor:note” tag containing user’s note in plain text and “comments” tag containing link to user’s profile with specific post preloaded on top of it.

Lazy load images in collapsed items
Currently when in list view and all items are collapsed, the post content and images are still loaded inside a hidden div - this means the browser is still downloading all those images though, chewing up bandwidth.
I have a few RSS feeds that are just all embedded GIF files, and loading them all inside the hidden divs almost froze my browser (plust ook 20mb+ bandwidth)
I propose you just lazy load the content in when a collapsed item is expanded.

improve feed update
seems that the update speed and accuracy (sometimes i dont see new updates when there are new updates) needs to be improved. when compared to google reader (which might be a little unfair to make that comparison at this point) is much faster. keep up the good work....hoping this becomes my new RSS source.
26 votesWe are having some capacity issues that prevent feeds from updating on time. We are working hard to get this fixed, please check our status page (http://status.theoldreader.com/) for updates.
Please accept our apologies for the inconveniences.

Sending to evernote posts that I like
At this moment I do a think that is really great. I have a trigger on ifttt that send to Evernote each post that I like on GReader, that means that I my evernote account I have a folder that has inside all the posts that I liked, organized by the feed title. It's easy to do, maybe just adding RSS to the "Love" section, or integrating itself in The old reader (maybe better).

Add option to open items in background tabs
I generally read through feed items and open the ones I want to read fully in a seperate tab using middle mouse click. An option to always open tabs in the background when hitting 'o' would be very useful.
There are various ways to solve this using JavaScript, hopefully the team can find a good solution.
55 votesThere is now a “b” keyboard shortcut for that.
We could not make it work in Firefox, but feel free to send us patches if you know a cross-browser solution.

Make option to open "All Items" when clicking the extension
When clicking the chrome extension it opens "Home", it would be faster (also less page requests) it it opens automatically "All Items" page.

Within a folder, we should be able to chronologically without having to see all of the posts from one feed.
Unless I am missing the setting, it seems that posts are arranged by feed, then chronologically. In Google Reader, we are able to see posts chronologically, even if it means not showing all of the posts from one feed back to back (i.e. If Feed A has a post a noon and then 2:30, and Feed B has a post a 1:00, I would like to See The post from Feed A, Then Feed B, Then Feed A. It currently Shows the two posts from Feed A, then Post from Feed B)
78 votesActually, posts are supposed to be sorted by the time they are fetched. Due to some feed fetching delays we are seeing right now because of the massive influx of new users, new posts are being grouped by feed. This should stop happening as soon as we are back to normal feed fetching schedule. Please check http://status.theoldreader.com/ for the updates.

Click any part of the feed to open it, not just the title.
A small but nice feature of Google Reader is being able to open a feed item by clicking any part of it, not just the title. This allows for faster access and an overall smoother experience.
